How Does A Plant-Based Diet Meal Plan from Plantable Better Modern-Day Healthcare?

How Does A Vegan Meal Plan from Plantable Better Modern-Day Healthcare

Healthcare costs are crippling our healthcare system. A significant percentage of today’s annual healthcare spend is on the management of chronic disease. It’s about $3.3 trillion per year! A big chunk of that spend is attributable to the impact today’s modern diet has on our health. This Western diet ultimately leads to chronic disease conditions. These can include:

  • Fatigue
  • Hypertension
  • Cardiovascular disease
  • Diabetes
  • Some forms of cancer

At Plantable, we believe people have the right to feel good and not be sick from our modern food system. By eating real, whole, unprocessed food, we are restoring our health and reversing and preventing chronic disease. As our healthcare system becomes more crippled by the escalating cost of chronic disease, prevention and reversal is the new cure. Plantable is modern-day healthcare. Vegan food gives people the tools to break free of the dependency on processed food. A vegan meal plan restores their health. A whole-food plant-based diet is the cheapest and original form of health insurance! We work with a network of physicians (cardiologists, endocrinologists, etc.) who “prescribe” Plantable to reverse disease.

We are at the forefront of the “food as medicine” movement with millions taking a new food venture daily. Working with those physicians, we collect bloodwork pre- and post- the vegan diet plan at Plantable. In terms of results, Plantable’s 28-day ReBoot program considerably lowers LDL cholesterol and hemoglobin A1C.

What is LDL cholesterol? Also known as low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, people consider it the bad cholesterol. It can create plaque in the arteries.

What is hemoglobin A1C? It is the average level of blood sugar or glucose over two to three months. It rivals the effects of prescription medications such as statins and metformin and others without the negative side effects. That is, of course, if you consider excess weight loss to be a negative! We believe that healthcare should involve food on prescription. We empower our clients to take back control over food and their health to restore what we call foundational health. This is modern-day healthcare.

What Are the Benefits of a Whole-Food, Plant-Based Diet?

A vegan meal plan provides benefits such as:
  • Improvements in internal health (lipid profile, inflammatory markers, hormonal responses)
  • Increased energy
  • Weight loss
  • Loss of visceral fat (the dangerous fat around the middle)
  • Improved mood
  • Longevity
A healthy plant-based diet meal plan includes:
  • A variety of whole grains
  • Vegetables and fruits
  • Beans, nuts, and seeds
  • Herbs and spices
With reduced added sugar, these are the bases of defense against chronic disease. Vegan food contains the dietary fiber and nutrients that our bodies need to thrive. They promote:
  • Health
  • Longevity
  • Lower LDL cholesterol
  • Reduced blood sugar and insulin production
  • Decreased inflammation

Providing the body with the nutrition it needs allows the brain and the body to do the hard work to heal itself. With less insulin (fat storage hormone) and ghrelin (hunger hormone) and more leptin (satiety hormone) and serotonin (feel good hormone), the body’s biochemistry takes over to drive the healthiest behaviors. The improvements in internal health lead to the often sought-after external results.

These can include:

  • Weight loss (especially around the middle)
  • Increased energy
  • Focus
  • Attention span
  • Mood
Unfortunately, the standard American diet consists mainly of energy-dense foods instead of nutrient-dense ones. Energy-dense foods provide calories but little nutrition. This leaves our cells starving for nutrients. It also causes our hormonal responses to drive unhealthy behaviors. We have identified this as the crappy food cycle. Our program enables our clients to transition to a nutrient-dense diet. A vegan meal prep plan also helps them to kick the addiction to sugar and to experience the benefits of the real food cycle. On average, after 28 days of eating a plant-based diet meal plan from Plantable, our clients lose 8.9 pounds. They also reduce their elevated LDL cholesterol by 41 points. They reduce their hemoglobin A1C by 0.91 percentage points. Their inflammation (as measured by high-sensitivity C-reactive protein) drops by 1.2 points.

How Does Plantable’s Vegan Meal Plan Delivery Service Work

Clients come to Plantable mainly from two channels. First, physicians (i.e., cardiologists, endocrinologists, internists, and oncologists) and dietitians refer their patients to the vegan meal plan. These practitioners use the plant-based diet from Plantable as a tool to help their patients achieve their health goals. It may be to lower elevated LDL cholesterol or hemoglobin A1C (a measure of average blood sugar levels). They may also want to decrease inflammation or to lose weight.

Our program has helped many clients avoid or reduce their need for prescription medications. These may be cholesterol, blood sugar, and high blood pressure medications. Second, we have clients come to us directly. These clients may also have those same health-related goals. They may want a vegan meal plan program to help them restore healthy habits or lose some weight.

These vegan recipes may increase their energy and help them to feel better. We also have clients who already eat mostly plant based. They find a customized but cheap vegan meal plan in Plantable easy and convenient. Either way, once clients sign up, they receive a weekly delivery of six lunches and six dinners. These are all nutrient dense, delicious, and fully prepared. They also gain access to a coach from Plantable, who is a real person, available 24/7.

What Is Plantable’s Vegan Meal Plan for Beginners Like?

Here is the overview of the two program options available for new clients:
  • Signature 28-day ReBoot
  • 7-day Mini Boot

The ReBoot is to reboot your body. If you feel sluggish, are hanging on to extra weight around the middle, or want to foster healthier habits, the full ReBoot is the best choice. This program is also ideal if you have diabetes, pre-diabetes, high cholesterol, and/or high inflammation. It is after completing the full 28-day program that we see the best results. These can include weight loss, and decreased LDL cholesterol, blood sugar, and inflammation.

Some of our clients prefer to start with the 7-day Mini Boot program. It is as an introduction to the full program. After trying a Plantable vegan meal plan for one week, many then continue to complete the full ReBoot program. The weekly menus are pre-set. Our chefs and dietitians ensure that the menu meets certain nutritional parameters with maximized variety. We introduce our clients to Plantable with our pre-set menus. They can try all our offerings and avoid decision fatigue.

For those not used to eating a plant-based diet meal plan, we want to introduce the new and exciting flavors, ingredients, and meals. We can accommodate certain allergies and food aversions! After completing the full ReBoot or the Mini Boot, you will become a Plantable graduate. Our graduates can continue to order our pre-set menu on a subscription basis. It means they can shop weekly, bimonthly, once a month. They can also order the a la carte box and choose their vegan meals.

Is It Recommended to Freeze My Vegan Dinner?

Our meals are made fresh in our kitchen in Brooklyn. They are then frozen to preserve nutrient quality, to reduce food waste, and to provide client convenience. If stored properly in the freezer, these personalized vegan or plant-based meals can easily last three to six months. After thawed, we recommend consuming our meals within 4 days.

How Do I Do A Vegan Meal Prep for My Deliveries?

https://www.instagram.com/p/BuuKk4UAXt2/ It’s easy! We recommend storing 3 days’ worth of these vegan meals in the refrigerator to thaw. Once thawed, they take only 2-3 minutes to prepare in the microwave! You can heat the meals in the microwave, on the stove, or in the oven. The heating instructions come with a chef’s recommendation for the reheating method that yields maximum quality. If heating from frozen, it takes a bit longer, which is about 15 minutes.

How Do I Get More From My Plant-Based Diet Meal Plan?

The Plantable app that goes along with the vegan meal delivery has really been a labor of love. It contains resources for the clients and serves as a platform for delivering our coaching content and coach-client interaction. Our clients’ success stems equally from the delicious, nutritious vegan meals as from our coaching. We recognize that behavior change does not happen overnight.

A Plantable whole food plant-based diet is a lifestyle intervention program based in behavior-change science. Our aim is not to have the client only succeed for 28 days. The healthy habits that you acquire should last a lifetime. This is why the vegan meal plan coach is the key to success. We provide education so that our clients understand what plant-based foods and habits support good health. We also provide the support to enable them to change their habits for good.

The plant-based diet meal plan coach is available 24/7 to answer the little questions like “How do I reheat my food?” It also deals with the bigger questions like “It’s ten o’clock at night, and I’m staring at the ice cream. What should I do?” The plant-based diet meal plan coach has your back, and it’s there to keep you on the wagon.

The vegan meal plan coach is there every step of the Plantable journey to provide breakfast, snack, and side salad suggestions. For breakfast, it’s best to combine complex carbohydrates (whole grains and quinoa, for example) and plant-based protein for energy and satiety.

Examples include overnight oats, avocado or almond butter toast (Ezekiel whole wheat sprouted toast!), and veggie heavy smoothies. Clients with Plantable-approved vegan recipes that they can whip up in 5 minutes. You can add BIOHM Super Greens to any of the smoothie recipes! Just think about the hippie brunch burrito and Nikki’s shepherd’s pie!
