For a gift that’s truly from the heart, try these easy ‘sweetie’ pies packed with strawberry jam and sprinkled with organic sugar. Give them as gifts or keep them on hand to pair with your morning probiotic smoothie!
- 1 premade pie crust (or your favorite homemade recipe)
- ½ cup strawberry jam
- 1 egg
- 1 3.5-inch heart cookie cutter
Preheat oven to 350° F.
Roll out prepared pie crust and using the cookie cutter, cut out 10 hearts and place on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet.
Spoon about 1 teaspoon jam on the inside of each heart. Whisk egg in a small bowl with a little bit of water. Using your finger add egg wash around edges of heart (this helps the two pieces stick together).
Cut out 10 additional hearts and place each one on top, pressing down on the sides. Add remaining egg wash on top. Using a fork press down on the sides.
Bake for 10-15 minutes or until the tops start to brown.
